Pectinia, or Antler coral, grow in a combination of pillar and plating structures. This unique growth pattern gives this coral a very elegant look. In the past only drab colored specimens made it into the marketplace.
LOCATION
Islands of the Indo-Pacific including Fiji, Tonga, and Solomon Islands.
LIGHTING
Low to moderate lighting is recommended. Pectinia seem to do best under lower lighting.
Low Light
Low light translates to about 30-50 PAR
Medium Light
Medium Light is between 50-150 PAR
High Light
High Light is anything over 150 PAR
Lighting is a loaded topic, so for a more in-depth discussion of lighting, please see our Deep Dive article.
WATER FLOW
Low to moderate water movement is recommended. Enough flow must be provided to avoid sediment from building up in the depressions of the coral.
FEEDING
Pectinia relies heavily on the products of their zooxanthellae. This coral may benefit from the addition of phytoplankton and other small morsels as a food source.
